Work

Below is a portfolio of my web development work to date in order of most recent down to my first ever.
It is comprised of projects for my degree along with both personal and freelance projects.

Work Horse


Work Horse is my most recent freelance project and was another good project for me to able to better my coding abilities and tidy up both my code and my UI/UX.
It was only a short project but it gave me a bit more creative freedom than some of my other paid freelance jobs, and allowed for me to use my design skills quite freely and create some designs and visuals that I am quite happy with. It is currently not live as it is part of a startup business but can still be viewed as a work in progress.

Garden Rooms


Garden Rooms is my most significant freelance piece of work that was planned, designed, built and tested all from scratch.
It was built using Boostrap as a framework and utilises HTML, CSS and JavaScript. It is completely responsive for desktop, mobile and tablets.
This piece of worked helped massively with my overall coding abilities and my ability to follow a design supplied by the client; whom were extremely happy with the result.

SocialFit


SocialFit is a project I completed for my final project at university. This project was a 1:1 grade.
It is a fitness-based social media app which gives users the ability to create an account, edit their profile, interact with other users via posts, create & join groups and compete in fitness challenges with leaderboards.
SocialFit is a web app which is primarily designed for mobile use. It is built using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Bootstrap for the front end and uses vanilla PHP and mySQL for all backend and database features.
This is a project I intend to keep improving in my spare time and would love to build it as an actual mobile application in the future.

If viewing this project, it is advised to reduce the browser window to mobile size for the best viewing experience.

Atom - Wordpress Developer Theme


Atom is a collaborative project I completed at university with another student. This project was a great introduction into collaborative working via the use of Git and GitHub. It came back as 1:1 grade.
It is a custom theme for Wordpress, designed primarily for developers to use when creating e-commerce websites. It is a framework which can be used to save a lot of time for the basic framework for a Wordpress e-commerce site.
It was built using Wordpress plugins, PHP and my SQL and includes customisable homepage, item list, shopping cart and checkout page.
This is another project I plan to build on and improve as it will be very beneficial for future projects.

BEAM Sweepers UK Site


Beam sweepers is another freelance project I have workied on. It is currently a work in progress as the company itself is still in a startup phase.
It is built using Bootstrap and is a very simplistic design and build but fits the needs of the client and is very easy to navigate for potential visitors to the site. It allows them to quickly see what Beam offers and get in touch with them.

Uni Deadline Calendar


The Uni Deadline Calendar is an android app made as another part of my uni course. It was a project done as an introduction to coding in Java aswell as learning to use the Android Studio software. This project achieved a 2:1 grade.
The main purpose of the app is for users to be able to create an account and login to the app (stored using Google Firebase databases). When logged in, users have the ability to set uni deadlines and other plans to certain dates. These dates can be clicked on to view more details about the deadline.
This app was a good way to introduce me into Java programming and I am fairly happy with it. This is another one that I may potentially revisit at some point.

Ultrasound Festival - Custom CMS Website


This project was my first introduction into PHP and mySQL and really helped set in work my love of PHP. Although this site could use some work and updating, it is a project I am still happy with.
This website is for a fake festival and is built via a custom content management system in mySQL. Features of the site include:
Login/registration system with working cookies and 'forgot password' feature;
a page for blog posts which can be added and deleted by logged in users;
and finally, a working image gallery in which users can upload images to the SQL database.
This was a project that really helped introduce me to PHP and mySQL and I learned so much from completing it. This project received a grade of a 1:1.

JH Ceramics Website


This project is my first paid freelance project. It is a simplistic portfolio website built for a ceramics artist.
This website was a good insight into completing an actual paid project from start to finish, working to create a product that the client is happy with.
The client was very happy with this portfolio website, built using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Bootstrap, and is still using it today to showcase his work.
